Man Returned from a Three-Day Fishing Trip with a Wedding Ring Mark – He Hadn’t Worn One in 12 Years

He apologized.

Afterward, I printed the photographs and messages Claire had shared.

I spread them across our dining table.

When Mark came home, he stopped in the doorway.

“What’s all this?”

“Your wedding.”

His face drained.

“Lisa…”

“Was the cake good?”

“It’s not what you think.”

“Then explain why you’re exchanging rings with another woman.”

“It wasn’t a real wedding.”

“Did Claire know that?”

“Of course. We didn’t file anything.”

“Did she know your wife was alive?”

He said nothing.

“Did she?”

“Things got complicated.”

“People forget anniversaries, Mark. They argue about money. They don’t accidentally tell another woman their wife died.”

He pulled out a chair.

“I was going to tell you.”

“When? After you legally married her?”

“I didn’t know how to end things.”

“Which things?”

He looked away.

“Our marriage hasn’t been good for a while.”

“Then you should have talked to me.”
