“Information. You should know your options.”
“All men are the same, honey,”
“My options? I’m having a baby!”
“Exactly. That’s why you need to think ahead.”
“We’re not getting divorced!”
She shrugged. “Not yet.”
The front door opened. Wade walked in, still in his work jacket. He saw the folder and read the cover.
“What’s this?”
“Not yet.”
“Something your wife should’ve had a long time ago,” my mom said calmly.
He turned a few pages. His jaw tightened.
“Are you seriously helping my wife prepare to divorce me?”
“I’m helping her prepare for the future.”
“We just found out we’re having a baby!”
“Having a baby doesn’t mean you’ll stay married.”
“What’s this?”
I snatched the folder back. “Mom, enough!”
She didn’t stop. “Men are all the same, Emily. They love playing husband until things get difficult.”
I pointed at the door. “Get out, Mom.”
