That single sentence seemed to hit Liam harder than anything else I had said all evening. He tried to offer various excuses, but his explanations became less convincing with every desperate word he spoke. Under the intense gaze of both our families, the full truth eventually came spilling out.
He admitted that he had been seeing a woman named Sierra, a coworker from his office. The late shifts he had been claiming were nothing more than convenient excuses to spend time with her.
