Brandon and I had been together since high school. After we graduated from college, he proposed, and we started planning our wedding.

I thought I was truly happy.
Until one evening, I got a call from the police.
The officer told me that my parents had died in a car accident. My 5-year-old twin brothers, Leo and Lucas, had been seriously injured, and the doctors were fighting to save their lives.
Thankfully, they survived.
I immediately filed to become their legal guardian. I was never going to abandon them. I didn’t hesitate for even a second. I adored my little brothers.
So at twenty-two, I suddenly became a mom, too.
My heart was shattered after losing my parents, but I believed Brandon and I would get through it together.
But after the guardianship was finalized, he came to our house and said:
“This guardianship thing is only temporary, right? You’re going to SEND your brothers somewhere else eventually?”
