I became a private driver for a wealthy widow because I needed money after she accused me of stealing, I found a hidden note from her in the car and was left stunned.

A tracker.

Someone had put a tracking device inside it.

I immediately threw the box into the trunk, drove to a police station and handed over everything I’d found.

Hours later, investigators searched the documents.

They discovered bank transfers, forged signatures, hidden accounts and photographs connecting Mrs. Whitmore’s son to the financial scheme.

But there was one document that changed everything.

It was a handwritten statement from my father.

At the bottom were the words:

“If anything happens to me, protect my son. He deserves to know that I never abandoned him.”

I broke down when I read it.

For twenty years, I had believed my father chose to leave

us.

He hadn’t.

He had spent his final years trying to protect me from the people who wanted him silent.

The police eventually arrested Mrs. Whitmore’s son.
