“Is there anything you haven’t told me?”
I asked.
His face changed.
Not dramatically.
Just enough for me to notice.
“Not about Daniel.”
The qualification was so precise that it frightened me.
“Andrew.”
He came and sat beside me.
“There are things about my past that I’ve never talked about because I didn’t think they mattered anymore.
But I have never cheated on you, and I have never put you in danger intentionally.”
“That isn’t the same as telling me everything.”
“No,” he admitted.
“It isn’t.”
I looked at him.
“Then what are you hiding?”
He opened his mouth.
Before he could answer, the doorbell rang.
We both turned toward the hallway.
A delivery driver stood outside with a large envelope.
It had no return address.
My name was printed on the front.
Andrew brought it inside but didn’t open it.
