“Are you divorcing?”
“Is it true you sold your mansion?”
That question stopped me.
I looked at the reporter.
“How do you know that?”
He smiled.
“Public records.”
Of course.
The sale had already been recorded.
I turned toward the cameras.
“Yes.”
The crowd went silent.
“I sold the house.”
“Why?”
I smiled.
“Because it belonged to me.”
A reporter stepped forward.
“Are you saying Ryan Vance has no legal claim to it?”
“I am saying exactly what the deed says.”
Another reporter shouted.
“Did you know about the affair?”
I looked directly into the camera.
“No.”
“Were you surprised?”
I thought about Ryan’s wedding photographs.
“No.”
The reporter frowned.
“How can you say that?”
I smiled.
“Because people eventually reveal who they are.”
Then I walked away.
Ryan saw the interview before he landed.
His first call came at 3:12 p.m.
I ignored it.
The second came at 3:14.
