The comments became brutal.
Some defended me.
Others blamed me.
One comment said:
Maybe his wife was too busy working to give him attention.
Another said:
No woman deserves to be publicly replaced like this.
I closed the page.
I didn’t care what strangers thought.
But then I saw a message from my assistant.
“Addison, there’s a reporter outside.”
“Send him away.”
“There are three.”
“Send them away.”
She hesitated.
“And one television crew.”
I sighed.
“I’m not giving interviews.”
“I thought you’d say that.”
Then Iris smiled.
“But I have an idea.”
“What?”
“You should let them see you.”
I stared at her.
“Iris.”
“Not to explain.”
She walked closer.
“To show them you’re not hiding.”
I thought about it.
Then nodded.
Five minutes later, I walked out of the building.
The reporters rushed forward.
“Mrs. Vance!”
“Addison, did you know your husband was marrying Norah Lawson?”
