He wore a gray suit and smelled like the cedar cologne he'd worn since college.
He paused when he saw the wheelchair.
Just as Arya had predicted.
Not sadness.
Discomfort.
“Vince.”
“Dom.”
He walked over and kissed my cheek.
“You look good.”
“Don't insult me.”
He laughed too loudly.
“Still you.”
He opened a leather folder.
“Pier Nineteen. Just need your signature.”
I didn't touch it.
“Why?”
“Cleanup transaction.”
“With Calder Blue?”
His eyes changed.
Barely.
But I saw it.
“Where'd you hear that name?”
I smiled.
“Shouldn't I know who's buying my property?”
He recovered quickly.
“Not your property. Company's property.”
“Same thing.”
“Not anymore.”
The words came out before he could stop them.
Silence filled the room.
Dominic glanced toward the door.
“What does that mean?”
“Nothing.”
“No. Say it again.”
He shut the folder.
“You haven't been at the office in half a year, Vince.”
“So?”
“Things change.”
