“No.”
“Then what?”
“Find out where she lives.”
Marco studied him.
“That could take a while.”
“Then don’t waste one.”
Within three minutes, the office was moving.
Two men searched the number.
Another checked local records.
Marco called a contact who could identify the owner of the phone.
The answer came quickly.
“It’s registered to a woman named Margaret Carter.”
Lorenzo’s expression changed.
“Mother?”
“Possibly.”
“Address?”
Marco read it from the screen.
Lorenzo memorized it.
“Let’s go.”
Marco grabbed his coat.
“Boss, you have the meeting with the Russo people in forty minutes.”
“Cancel it.”
“That’s the third meeting you’ve canceled this week.”
Lorenzo stopped at the door.
“Then cancel another one.”
Emily sat on the kitchen floor with Noah in her lap.
The stranger hadn’t responded for almost two minutes.
She regretted sending the message.
Maybe he was angry.
Maybe he was a scammer.
