“Are you absolutely sure you want to do this?”
I looked down at the city.
“Yes.”
“Once the deed is recorded, Ryan has no ownership interest in the property.”
“I know.”
“And because the house was acquired through your father’s trust before your marriage, the marital-property argument is extremely weak.”
“Extremely weak isn’t the same as impossible.”
Daniel chuckled.
“That is why I like you.”
I smiled faintly.
“What happens next?”
“Ryan will probably try to claim the sale was fraudulent.”
“He won’t win.”
“No.”
Daniel’s voice became serious.
“But I need to tell you something else.”
I turned away from the window.
“What?”
“We found additional accounts.”
My stomach tightened.
“What kind of accounts?”
“Accounts connected to Vance Development.”
I didn’t speak.
“Three offshore entities. Two holding companies. And a private investment account in the Cayman Islands.”
I closed my eyes.
“How much?”
“We’re still tracing it.”
